چکیده
Abstract Background Fresh in-hull pistachio fruits are very perishable and hence have a limited storage life, with marketers customers wishing for longer shelf life. The present research was performed to explore the combined effects of different packaging conditions (ambient atmospheric condition, passive- active-modified atmosphere packaging) as well chitosan coating (0, 1, 1.5%w/v) on postharvest quality fresh pistachios stored at 5 °C 85–90% relative humidity 45 days. efficacy treatments in prolongation fruit life evaluated by determining weight loss, kernel firmness, acid (AV) peroxide values (PV), mold yeast count, aflatoxin content, hull color parameters (L*, a*, b*, C*, h°, BI) 0, 15, 30 days storage. In addition, O 2 CO concentrations MAP headspace were monitored. Results By applying high molecular coatings conditions, PV AV values, microbial growth, B1 production, loss inhibited, firmness reduction deterioration during controlled. Active-MAP most cases better than passive-MAP this regard ( P < 0.05). Combining demonstrated additive synergistic effects. At end storage, 1.5% chitosan-coated treatment under active-MAP maintained (87% control treatment), lightness (76% count (similar treatment). It also minimum (6.39%), (0.91 meq kg −1 oil) (0.49 g oleic /100 oil ) compared other treatments, proving that more effective preserving parameters. equilibrium levels higher those which indicated had respiration rates Conclusions results revealed combination technique effectively preserved attributes lengthened pistachios. Therefore, it could potentially be commercialized new approach future industry application. Graphical

Preservation of fresh meat with active and modified atmosphere packaging conditions.
The sensory, microbiological and physicochemical attributes of fresh meat stored at 5 and 15 degrees C were affected by the combined effect of volatile compounds of oregano essential oil and modified atmosphere packaging conditions (40% CO2/30% N2/30% O2, 100% CO2, 80% CO2/20% air, vacuum pack and air). It was found that the extension of shelf life of meat samples depended on the packaging cond...
متن کاملEffects of Chitosan Coating and Modified Atmosphere Packaging on Quality Attributes of the Cucumber (Royal Cultivar) and Modeling the Vegetable Shelf-Life
Background and Objectives: Cucumber includes a short postharvest life and loses its quality fast. Novel technologies such as coating and modified atmosphere packaging are promising methods in preserving fresh products. Therefore, the aim of this study was to use a combination of chitosan coating and modified atmosphere packaging to preserve quality attributes of the cucumber Royal var. and to e...

Sushi, a very popular food worldwide became a popular ready-to-eat food selling in supermarkets, but it exhibit distinct features, which are associated with microbiological hazards. Therefore, MAP technology, known to reduce aerobic bacteria in fishery products, was used to improve quality of ready-to-eat salmon sushi in this study. Salmon sushi were packaged with air (control), 50%N2 /50%CO2 (...
متن کاملApplication of Modified Atmosphere Packaging and Related Technology in Postharvest Handling of Fresh Fruits and Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables are important source of carbohydrates, proteins, organic acids, vitamins and minerals for human nutrition. When plants or plant parts are used by humans, whether for food, or for aesthetic purpose, there is always a postharvest component. Postharvest losses in fresh fruits and vegetables may occur anywhere from the point where the food has been harvested or gathered up to ...
